Woman dies after crashing car in east Las Vegas parking lot

A woman died Monday night after her vehicle ran into a chain-link fence in an east Las Vegas parking lot.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated the 2003 Hyundai Elantra was traveling slowly in the parking lot at 2875 S. Nellis Blvd. a little after 9:30 p.m. when it struck the fence, according to Las Vegas police. The vehicle showed minor damage.

The 68-year-old driver was taken to Desert Springs Hospital where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

It is unknown if the driver suffered from a medical episode prior to the collision, police said.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the woman’s name and cause of death.
