Woman dead after fatal North Las Vegas accident

North Las Vegas police were investigating a fatal crash Saturday night.

The Clark County coroner’s office identified the woman as 50-year-old Belinda Sutton, of Las Vegas. She died from blunt force trauma to the torso as a result of the collision.

Police received calls about a wreck around Martin Luther King Boulevard and Cartier Avenue just after 5:30 p.m.

Sutton was driving a Ford F-150 was driving east on Cartier and “failed to yield” to a Ford Crown Victoria heading north on Martin Luther King Boulevard, police said.

The Crown Victoria hit the truck, and arriving officers found the Sutton unconscious in the F-150. She was taken to University Medical Center, where she died.

An 11-year-old girl riding in the truck’s passenger seat had minor injuries, and the 19-year-old Las Vegas man driving the Crown Victoria was not injured.

Early indications showed Sutton was at fault in the collision, and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in this case, police said.
