Volunteers needed for Clark County homeless census

Clark County needs volunteers to help conduct its homeless census later this month.

The count will take place from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Jan. 29. The count is needed to see where the county stands in its efforts to eliminate homelessness. The county also uses the information to apply for federal funds to help get people off the streets.

Volunteers will be assigned teams and deployment centers. Those conducting the rural count will also be required to conduct a brief interview with the homeless on the day of the count.

Volunteers will be asked to attend one of two training sessions at 8:30 a.m. or 6 p.m. on Jan. 23.

Those interested in volunteering can register at http://bit.ly/2014HomelessCensus at or contact the organizers at 702-455-5832 or helphopehome@clarkcountynv.gov

The Count is organized by the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition’s Committee on Homelessness.
