Salute to U.S. Veterans celebration, job fair planned Saturday

The Las Vegas Review-Journal will host a Salute U.S. Veterans celebration and job fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Texas Station in North Las Vegas.

Reps. Joe Heck and Dina Titus are slated as opening speakers. Heck, R-Nev., is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and Titus, D-Nev., is a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee.

The event will feature entertainment from the Las Vegas Valley’s most exciting acts, comedy, military history displays, free raffles and meals for veterans, and veteran outreach information.

A senior women’s tap-dance troupe, the Happy Hoofers, will perform at 11 a.m.

Some of the other speakers include U.S. Vets Outreach Coordinator Deon Derby, VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System spokesman David Martinez, and USO Center Director Doug Bradford, and American Legion Post 8 Commander Rod Carlone.

“Join us in celebration of our U.S. veterans who served with distinction and honor. The ‘Salute U.S. Veterans’ event offers veterans, their families, friends and Southern Nevadans an experience like no other by celebrating our veterans in a big way,” states a flier about the event.
