Robbery suspect shot in hip

A robbery suspect was shot in the hip by a Las Vegas police officer when he continued to run after he was instructed to stop early Monday morning, authorities said.
Kosol Bolick, 22, was charged with robbery with use of a deadly weapon. He was taken to University Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition after surgery.
The 1:50 a.m. robbery occurred at the Vons store at Desert Inn Road and Eastern Avenue.
Store officials said the suspect committed the robbery at gunpoint and then fled the store on a bicycle. Patrol officers who were responding to the robbery saw the bicyclist and chased him to the Winchester Woods apartment complex at 3135 S. Mojave Road.
The suspect evaded the officers and was later found hiding in one of the alcoves of building No. 14.
Capt. Frank Barker said that as the two officers tried to take the suspect into custody he started running through the complex again.
After the suspect failed to respond to instructions to stop, one of the officers fired one shot at him.
"When he was instructed to halt they were in close proximity of each other and then the suspect fled. Before he (suspect) actually fell he was probably about 20 feet away," said Capt. Frank Barker.
Barker said a gun believed used in the robbery was found in the area.
In accordance with department policy the officer’s identity is being withheld for 48 hours.
