Presidential hopefuls plan trips to valley
June 5, 2007 - 9:00 pm
Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson is scheduled to visit the Las Vegas Valley this week, campaign officials said Monday.
The New Mexico governor will speak to the Henderson Democratic Club on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the AFL-CIO hall at 1701 Whitney Mesa Drive.
On Thursday, Richardson will participate in the national Service Employees International Union’s “Walk a Day in My Shoes” program, which asks presidential candidates to spend a day with a union member. Richardson will accompany a Clark County Family Services worker for the morning, then have a news conference at the Child Haven shelter for abused and neglected children.
Also this week, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, will be in Las Vegas. Kucinich on Saturday has a fundraiser for his presidential campaign at Tipps Thai Cuisine, 5740 Spring Mountain Road.
The fundraiser is $25 to attend. Kucinich plans to be back in Nevada in the coming weeks to open a campaign office here, state campaign co-coordinator Raj Rathor said.
