Realtors group leader honored with proclamation

Irene Vogel, chief executive of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors, was presented with a proclamation Wednesday by the Nevada Legislature recognizing her professional work and community involvement.

Vogel, who had traveled to Carson City to testify on housing-related issues, was surprised when state Sen. Michael Schneider called her to the floor, said Dale Henson, chief operating officer of the 11,000-member Realtor organization.

Vogel is retiring after a “long and distinguished” career, the proclamation said. She was instrumental in starting the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Best of Nevada Real Estate Awards.

She was also active with the Ronald McDonald House, Jewish Federation, Frontier Council of the Girl Scouts and served as board member of the College of Southern Nevada Foundations.
