CARSON CITY – The Legislative Commission on Wednesday unanimously selected longtime staff fiscal analyst Rick Combs as director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau.
Combs, 43, is a Tennessee native and former lawyer who has worked the past 18 years as a legislative employee.
As director for all employee divisions that make up the state Legislature, he will be paid $138,000 a year and head a staff of 300.
In this position, Combs will serve as the chief administrator who assists the 63 legislators in carrying out their work.
He replaces Lorne Malkiewich, who resigned this spring after nearly 20 years in the position.
Combs said his “first order of business” will be to give legislators the same level of services that they have received in the past.
Tammy Grace, the acting director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau, said Combs will start his new job in July.
A total of 38 candidates applied for the job.
