Police seek man who fled after fatal crash

Authorities were searching for a man who ran off after a fatal wreck on Sahara Avenue early Sunday, Las Vegas police said.

Police identified Jesus Calvillo Garcia, 22, as the driver in a string of crashes about 2 a.m. that ended with the death of his passenger. Police withheld the name of the passenger.

Garcia was fleeing a minor hit-and-run accident at Sahara and Maryland Parkway when his 1996 GMC pickup sideswiped two other vehicles near the Interstate 15 overpass, police said. The truck rear-ended another car and rolled into a cement wall before righting itself.

Garcia continued driving until the truck came to a stop a short distance away, police said. Garcia then ran off and left his passenger in the truck, police said.

Garcia is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He might live in the 4200 block of Silver Dollar Avenue, near Sahara and Valley View Boulevard.

Anyone with information about Garcia’s whereabouts can call Detective Corey Moon at 828-3538 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
