The two Las Vegas police officers who killed a 24-year-old woman Tuesday morning on Martin Luther King Boulevard near Lake Mead Boulevard are veteran officers.
Officer Jennifer Santiago, 36, has been with the Metropolitan Police Department since May 1995. Officer Kenneth Krmpotich, 40, has been with the department since March 2000.
Both officers are assigned to the Bolden Area Command and are on paid administrative leave pending a Clark County coroner’s inquest.
The woman who was shot, Denise Glasco, allegedly threatened a customer at a Jack in the Box restaurant with a knife and was later found on the street with her 3-year-old son, police said.
Police grabbed the child from Glasco. Officers then shot her multiple times with a bean bag shotgun, shocked her with a Taser and used pepper spray on her, but none of that subdued her and she continued to disobey police commands, police said.
Santiago and Krmpotich each shot Glasco after she threatened a motorist and officers with a knife, police said.
