NEON THURSDAY

Type O Negative gets positive

Type O Negative’s languid goth metal dirges have been posited mostly on death and loss.

The band’s latest disc, “Dead Again,” had plenty of real-life anguish to fuel the proceedings: Frontman Peter Steele spent time in prison, rehab and a psych ward since Type O’s previous effort.

Somewhat surprisingly then, “Dead Again” is perhaps the band’s most life-affirming record, a hard-charging, uptempo affair that captures this bunch at its most invigorated.

Despite its misleading title, “Dead Again” proves that these dudes haven’t flatlined just yet.

See the band at 6:30 p.m. at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $27; call 632-7600.
