Chinese pianist

on floating stage

Lang Lang, 24, is one of the charismatic young artists re-energizing classical music. The Chinese pianist has been in the limelight since he was 17.

Lang told National Public Radio that he was inspired to play piano by hearing Franz Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody” in a Tom and Jerry cartoon. He still includes the piece in his repertoire.

Today he plays outdoors on the floating stage at the MonteLago Village Waterfront at Lake Las Vegas Resort, 30 Strada di Villagio, Henderson. Tickets are $40-$125 for the 8 p.m. show. Call 474-4000 or 795-7469.
