NDOT schedules Route 160 tumbleweed torch

The Nevada Department of Transportation will set controlled fires to burn brush along 12 miles of State Route 160 between Pahrump and Mountain Springs starting Monday, NDOT said Friday.

A water truck and the Clark County Fire Department will be on hand while maintenance crews use a propane torch to burn tumbleweeds in the center median between mile posts 30 and 42, about 16 miles southeast of Pahrump.

The burn will be conducted 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday of next week. No traffic restrictions are expected, but delays are possible, NDOT said. Message boards will notify motorists of problems.
