Former NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal has come under fire this week after her parents outed her as while, while she’s been identifying as black in her time with the organization.

Dolezal, 37, was the head of the Spokane, Wash., chapter of the NAACP and has identified herself as African-American. But her Montana birth certificate says she was born to two Caucasian parents.

She was not just president of her local NAACP chapter; she is also an academic expert on African-American culture and has taught many related classes at Eastern Washington University.
