Las Vegas club seeks locals to invite airmen to Thanksgiving dinners

The Las Vegas Rotary Club has received enough donations to serve 40 airmen a Thanksgiving dinner.

Now club members are looking for people to invite other airmen into their homes to share their holiday meals.

Club member Anil Melnick, who is donating his Las Vegas catering business, B with a Twist, for the 40, said Friday that a total of 260 service members who are deployed at Nellis and Creech Air Force bases are taken care of for the upcoming holiday either through his business or by invitations into residents’ homes.

But there are an estimated 2,500 airmen who are living in dorms and are unable to be with their families for Thanksgiving. He’s hoping others will come forward and “adopt” them for the holiday.

Melnick said he’s asking people to share their meal with two to eight airmen at each home.
