Inquest set in police shooting

A coroner’s inquest has been tentatively scheduled for Nov. 15 in the police-involved shooting of Charles L. Walthers.

The shooting occurred Saturday at the Sunrise Pointe Mobile Home Community, 4800 E. Cheyenne Ave.

The 44-year-old man, previously identified incorrectly as Chuck Walters, was shot to death when he answered his door with a gun in his hand. Two police officers who responded to a woman’s complaint of being threatened by Walthers fired at the man. Three of five bullets hit him in the chest. He died at the scene.
