Crash on Sunset Road kills Las Vegas man, 28
A 28-year-old Las Vegas man was killed in a three-vehicle collision on Sunset Road near Spencer Street slightly before 9 p.m. Friday, Las Vegas police said.
Jose Bejarano was driving a 1999 Acura 3.0 CL east on Sunset when it collided head-on with a westbound 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Joseph Bruchko, 25, of Topeka, Kan., that had swerved into the eastbound lane, police said.
Bejerano’s car then struck a 2001 Acura 3.2 TL, driven by Craig Brenner, 51, of North Las Vegas and also heading east on Sunset, police said.
Bejarano was rushed to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after arrival, police said. Bruchko was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. Brenner was not injured.
The wreck remained under investigation, but detectives believe alcohol might have played a role in it, police said. No charges were immediately filed.
DESERT INN ROAD OVERPASS
Police identify driver in fatal plunge onto I-15
Las Vegas police have identified the driver of a 2003 Ford F-150 who died when his pickup fell 36 feet from the Desert Inn Road overpass to Interstate 15 as George Price Jr., 33, of Henderson.
Price’s passenger, a 17-year-old girl, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries in the wreck, police said. She had been wearing a seat belt.
Police still were hunting Saturday for the driver of a 1993 Honda Accord that collided with the pickup and caused its plunge. The driver fled the scene on foot.
The wreck occurred about 3:40 p.m. as the Honda, speeding east on Desert Inn, made an abrupt lane change and collided with the pickup, police said. The pickup was forced onto the retaining wall of the overpass, straddling it for 100 feet before falling to the interstate. Nobody on the interstate was injured.
The Honda crashed into the center concrete wall on the overpass before the driver fled.

Officials say remains of missing person found
The body of a missing Nevada woman was found in a forested area of Lassen County, Calif., near where her abandoned vehicle was found two days before, authorities said Saturday.
The remains of Wiltrude Moritz, 71, of Gardnerville were found Friday about six miles from the vehicle, said Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tom Mezzetta.
Moritz, who suffered from dementia and required daily medication, was last seen at her home May 12.
There were no obvious signs of foul play or trauma, Mezzetta said. “It is believed that (she) had attempted to hike out of the area after having left her disabled vehicle and perished while seeking assistance,” he said.
Her vehicle was found Wednesday on a logging road near the Fredonyer Snowmobile Park west of Susanville, Calif.
An autopsy will be performed to pinpoint the cause of death, Mezzetta said.
BLACK MUSICIANS SNUBBED
Oakland jazz club to pull CD off market
Managers of Yoshi’s, one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s best-known jazz venues, said they will pull the Oakland club’s first-ever CD off the market after community leaders complained that it featured no black musicians.
Club managers apologized Friday for what they called “a huge mistake” and “a major oversight.” They said they plan to create a new recording that better reflects the musicians, more than half of whom are black, who play the 340-seat venue at Oakland’s Jack London Square.
