Boulder City man accused of setting fires

Henderson fire investigators arrested a 69-year-old man Saturday in connection with a string of fires set early Friday.

David Richardson was booked at the Henderson Detention Center on two counts of first-degree arson, seven counts of third-degree arson and one count of petty larceny.

Investigators said they think Richardson started eight fires near the intersection of Eastern and Serene avenues about 4:15 a.m. Friday. A house, a vehicle and several garbage bins were torched in the spree, authorities said.

Tipsters identified Richardson after news reports about the fires. He was arrested at his Boulder City home. Authorities have not reported a motive for the arsons.

Victim of pickup crash was Las Vegas man

The man who was pronounced dead late Friday after his pickup hit a wall along Rampart Boulevard was 53-year-old Dexter Young of Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner’s office said.

Young was northbound on Rampart south of Cheyenne Avenue about 10 p.m. when his 2001 Toyota Tacoma bounced off the median, veered back across three lanes and hit a block wall, Las Vegas police said.

Investigators said Young might have suffered a medical problem just before the crash.
