RANCHO DRIVE WRECK

75-year-old man dies after single-car crash

A 75-year-old Las Vegas man was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle wreck in the northwest valley Wednesday.

The cause of death was not immediately known, Las Vegas police said.

The man was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla south on Rancho Drive, near the intersection of Duncan Drive, about 11:10 a.m. when witnesses said the vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, swerved to avoid another vehicle and jumped onto the sidewalk.

The car then went onto the landscaped shoulder and struck a large tree, police said.

An autopsy will be performed by the Clark County coroner’s office to determine whether the cause of death was caused by the impact or a medical condition that occurred prior to the collision.
