Man who died when convertible rolled ID’d

A man who died when he crashed a convertible Saturday morning while being pursued by North Las Vegas police was 28-year-old Jose Garcia of Las Vegas, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

North Las Vegas police were on their way to take a report about a 2004 Chrysler Sebring that had been stolen from a convenience store when an officer saw the vehicle traveling north on Camino Al Norte near Craig Road, police said. The officer followed the car, and more police joined the pursuit.

Garcia sped away and, while eastbound on Centennial Parkway at Losee Road, he drove into a concrete wall, causing the car to flip onto its top, police said. Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arizona teenager dies from injuries in crash

A teenager badly injured in a Jan. 7 traffic accident in Bullhead City, Ariz., died Saturday at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.

The victim was identified as Austin Kennon, 14, of Bullhead City.

Police spokeswoman Emily Montague said the Mohave County attorney’s office will determine whether Kennon’s brother, Michael, 17, will be cited or prosecuted in the head-on collision.

Montague said the older boy was driving on the wrong side of Goldrush Road when his 2002 Daewoo Nubira struck an oncoming 2002 Oldsmobile just south of Ramar Road.

Montague said Michael Kennon also was uninsured.

The Kennon boys, their 11-year-old brother, Jim, and their father, Tyrone, 41, required hospital treatment for their injuries along with the two occupants of the Oldsmobile, Tonee Wheeler 19, and Ashley Vincent, 17, both of Bullhead City.
