Giunchigliani endorses Clinton

Sen. Hillary Clinton has picked up the endorsement of Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani, the New York Democrat’s campaign announced Thursday.
“Hillary is a visionary with an unmatched record of advocacy on behalf of those without a voice in society,” Giunchigliani said in a statement. “As president she will fight for better education, more accessible health care and ethical, responsible government. Those are priorities with the power to set our nation on the right track.”
A former eight-term Democratic assemblywoman from Las Vegas, Giunchigliani was elected to the commission in November. She will serve as a co-chair of Clinton’s campaign in Nevada. Clinton was in Las Vegas on Wednesday, where she announced that she has also been endorsed by former Gov. Bob Miller.
No other Democratic candidate has picked up endorsements from current or former elected officials in Nevada, who were asked by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to remain neutral as the state prepares to host an early presidential nominating caucus for the first time in 2008.
But Clinton’s Nevada campaign is led by Reid’s son, Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid.
