Female pedestrian struck, killed in southwest valley

Update: Clark County coroner identfies accident victim.

A woman is dead after being struck by a car in the southwest valley Thursday night, Las Vegas police said.

The crash happened about 6:15 p.m. near Fort Apache Road and Tropicana Avenue.

The woman, who was not in a crosswalk, was hit by a white sedan and died at the scene, police said.

Fort Apache Road was closed in both directions from Peace Way to Tompkins Avenue while police investigated the crash.
