Elaine Wynn honored for work to improve Nevada education

Elaine Wynn was honored Tuesday by the National Child Labor Committee with the 2011 Lewis Hines Award — Distinguished Service Award for her efforts to improve education in Nevada.

Wynn, national chairwoman for Communities in Schools and a director of Wynn Resorts Ltd., is also the co-chairwoman of the Greater Las Vegas After School All-Stars, a nonprofit organization providing after-school activities for students in education, sports and the arts.

Andre Agassi, a former professional tennis champion and the chairman and founder of the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, was also honored for his work in educating underserved youth in Las Vegas.
