Clark County School Board elects Edwards as new president

Carolyn Edwards, the most senior member of the Clark County School Board with four years of experience, was elected president of the board Wednesday.

Linda Young was elected the vice president and Deanna Wright was elected the clerk. All were elected in 6-0 votes.

The School Board is a seven-member body, but it’s missing a representative for District E, or northwestern Clark County, since Terri Janison has resigned to go to work for Gov. Brian Sandoval.

The board is taking applications for the position until Jan. 10 and expects to interview and possibly appoint a successor to fill the two years remaining in the term on Jan. 20.
