Cannon Junior High students flee to Del Sol after air conditioning breaks

Students from Cannon Junior High School were bused Thursday afternoon to a neighboring high school campus after the middle school’s air conditioning broke, the Clark County School District said.

Students who take the bus home will ride from Del Sol High School, on Pecos Road and north of Sunset Road, to their regular bus stop at their regularly scheduled time, the district said in a news release.

Those who walk or bike will take buses back to the Cannon campus, just west of Del Sol, and be released at their regular bell times.

Cannon students will not return to campus for classes until Tuesday at the earliest. There is an already scheduled staff development day Friday, and the Labor Day holiday is Monday.

It’s unclear what caused the air conditioning to break.
