The Adelson Educational Campus, a Jewish private school in Summerlin, received a $50 million gift Wednesday from its founders, Miriam and Sheldon Adelson.
Sheldon Adelson is chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp.
The goal for the school – started in 2006 – was to develop a learning environment like the Reali School in Haifa, Israel, which Miriam Adelson attended from ages 6 to 18.
“It was an institution that not only had high academic standards but also instilled values and friendships for life,” she said.
Sheldon Adelson said they are proud of the Las Vegas school.
“It provides a world-class education in a magnificent facility,” he said.
The Summerlin campus consists of three schools with a total of 600 students.
The Lower School is for students 18 months old through fourth grade. The Middle School spans grades five through eight, and the Upper School teaches grades nine through 12.
“We are grateful to the Adelsons for this remarkable gift,” Head of School Paul Schiffman said. “The Adelsons have been very closely involved in every aspect of our school, and we have benefited tremendously from their good counsel.”
