Vegas Golden Knights license plate heads to Senate vote

CARSON CITY — A Nevada Senate committee Tuesday passed a bill authorizing a special license plate for hockey fans to show support for the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.

Senate Bill 283 now goes to a vote on the Senate floor.

The bill directs the Department of Motor Vehicles to work with the team to design a license plate. It also exempts it from other requirements typically imposed on special plates, such as an annual fee.

Supporters of the bill said team owners have indicated they will pay for production.

The Vegas Golden Knights will play their inaugural season this year.
