Liberty’s Blake takes second, third at national track meet

Liberty rising senior Ashlie Blake finished second in the shot put and third in the discus at the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation Nationals Outdoor track and field meet Sunday at Greensboro, N.C.

Blake posted a mark of 51 feet, 8½ inches (15.76 meters) in the championship flight of the shot put. Four of her six attempts exceeded 50 feet.

Blake went 151-3 (46.1 meters) in the championship flight of the discus, with two additional throws also surpassing the 151-foot mark.

Magdalyn Ewen of St. Francis, Minn., who is headed to Arizona State in the fall, won the shot put (54-3¾) and the discus (166-1).

Blake is a two-time Nevada state champion in the shot put and discus.
