With small chance of rain Monday, dry streak likely to reach 197 days
Though the outskirts of the Las Vegas Valley saw some light sprinkles on Monday, the National Weather Service said the dry streak measured at McCarran International Airport continued for the 196th day.
“Henderson saw a little sprinkle and some thunder and there was a bit of sprinkling across the north valley, but nothing was measured at McCarran,” meteorologist Chris Outler said Monday evening, adding that no more rain is expected through the workweek.
Outler said Monday reached a high of 84 degrees, just 2 degrees below the record and 11 degrees higher the average temperature for Nov. 2. He said temperatures are supposed to stay in the low to mid-80s and sunny until the weekend, when another cold front will hit the valley.
Saturday and Sunday’s highs are forecast in the 50s with a 10 percent chance of rain, Outler said.
“This cold front should be a little different than the one we saw last week,” Outler said. “That one only lasted for a day or so, but this one should continue into about the middle of next week, and temperatures should stay relatively cool as we head into mid-November.”
