Weekend to stay warm; rain expected midweek
September 19, 2015 - 7:09 pm
Las Vegas is in for a warm, dry weekend, but cooler temperatures and chances for rain are expected midweek, according to the National Weather Service.
“This weekend should be relatively quiet,” meteorologist Caleb Steele said Saturday.
Saturday saw a high temperature of 95 degrees, meteorologist John Salmen said. It was “dry and sunny” everywhere. Sunday will be similar with highs about 99, possibly reaching triple digits in some places of the valley.
Temperatures for this time of year normally are in the low 90s, Salmen siad.
Moisture should start to move into the valley Monday, when high temperatures are expected to climb to 94 before dropping to 78 at night. Any rain should stay south of Las Vegas, Steele said.
“Tuesday could well have widespread showers and thunderstorms,” Steele said. The Weather Service forecasts a 40 percent to 50 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms in the valley, and high temperatures sticking around 85 degrees.
Temperatures Tuesday night should drop to 75 before climbing to 86 Wednesday afternoon, Steele said. Las Vegas might see isolated showers Wednesday, but the rest of the week should be dry, he said.
