Warm temps for Las Vegas Valley ahead of weekend cooling

Updated April 24, 2018 - 8:26 pm

The Las Vegas Valley will stay warm and sunny for the next few days as above-average highs continue to rise.

Normal highs for this time of year are in the low 80s, the National Weather Service said, but the ups and downs the valley has seen over the past few weeks are typical of spring weather patterns.

The valley can expect highs of 93 on Wednesday and 96 on Thursday, the weather service said. If the valley reaches 96 on Thursday, it would mark the hottest day this year, meteorologist Clay Morgan said. The high would also fall just short of the valley’s 97-degree record for that day.

“So we’ve got an outside shot there,” Morgan said.

By Friday, another low-pressure system will move in, bringing breezes and cooler temperatures. Friday’s forecast high is 93, the weather service said, and winds should start to pick up in the afternoon.

Temperatures will continue to fall over the weekend, with highs near 87 on Saturday and 83 on Sunday.
