Warm Las Vegas weekend forecast, storms possible Monday

Updated April 26, 2019 - 11:17 pm

The Las Vegas Valley is in for a warm weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures about 10-12 degrees above normal will continue through Sunday, meteorologist Barry Pierce said.

Friday reached a high temperature of 96, just one degree shy of the daily record high last set in 1996, the weather service said.

Saturday’s high temperature is forecast for 93 degrees, and Sunday is expected to reach 90, Pierce said. Sunday could see some wind at speeds of 15 to 25 mph.

A storm system will enter the valley on Monday, bringing a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, and a more than 10-degree drop in temperatures, with a high of 78, he added.

Tuesday should see a 30 percent chance of showers in the morning, dropping back to 20 percent in the afternoon. The high is projected to be 81, the weather service said.

Wednesday will be sunny with a high of 81. Overnight lows will be in the 60s through Tuesday night.
