Sunny Sunday, stormy midweek in valley’s forecast

Don’t let Sunday’s sunny and warm weather fool you, Las Vegas: Midweek moisture is on its way.
The weather service forecasts a high of 99 degrees with mostly sunny, dry conditions Sunday, said meteorologist Caleb Steele.
Nighttime lows Sunday will drop to about 72 at night before moisture builds in areas south of Las Vegas, bringing high temperatures down to about 96 Monday. Lows are expected to fall to 74 at night.
Tuesday is when stormy weather is expected to move into the valley, Steele said.
Mojave County should see more intense storms than Las Vegas, but the weather service is forecasting a 50 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms in the valley Tuesday.
Highs Tuesday should stick around 84 degrees and lows are forecast about 74 degrees.
It’s normal to see these pushes of moisture in September, as we near the end of monsoon season, Steele said.
The valley will see about 20 percent chance for rain Wednesday before drying out through the end of the week, he said.
