Rain possible in Las Vegas Valley on Sunday

The clouds adorning Las Vegas Valley skies Saturday weren’t bringing much more than a pleasant view.

The few sprinkles reported earlier fell in the southwest valley, meteorologist Caleb Steele said. Mount Charleston and Red Rock Canyon also saw minimal rainfall.

With an expected high of 80 degrees, Saturday temperatures were still about 10 degrees below average, Steele said.

The last day temperatures went above the normal high was May 12, meteorologist Clay Morgan said, noting that Saturday was the 11th straight day of below-normal temperatures.

That streak is expected to be broken Monday or Tuesday, Morgan said.

Later in the week, temperatures will continue to gradually pick up, reaching highs near the mid- to upper 90s, Steele said.

Lincoln and Nye counties were expecting rain Saturday, but the opportunity for more rain in the Las Vegas Valley won’t come until Sunday evening, Steele said.
