Rain is in the air, but Las Vegas might not get a drop

Updated August 15, 2018 - 10:01 pm

The Las Vegas Valley could see rain on Thursday before warming up over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The public should keep an eye out for weather-related updates Thursday afternoon, when there’s a 20 percent chance of storms in the valley, meteorologist Trevor Boucher said Wednesday night.

“Pretty active storm potential for tomorrow,” he said.

Moisture in the air will help drive Thursday’s high down to 100 degrees. Thursday’s morning low will reach 81, about on par with the lows of 82 forecast through Monday.

The high on Friday will rise to 102 as the moisture moves away from the valley.

Saturday and Sunday will be dry and mostly sunny with highs of 106 forecast for both days.

Next week will start out with sunny skies and hot weather, the weather service said. Monday should see a high of 107 and Tuesday, 106.

The average high for this time of year is about 102, the weather service said.
