Rain expected in Las Vegas through Wednesday

After a day of dark clouds and scattered showers, Southern Nevadans will have another chance to soak up as much rain as possible Wednesday.

After that it’ll be back to dry heat for the weekend.

There were scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday and a high temperature of 97 degrees. Temperatures were supposed to drop to 77 degrees at night, National Weather Service meteorologist Barry Pierce said.

Light rains fell throughout the valley, and the weather service issued a flash-flood watch starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday and lasting through 8 a.m. Wednesday.

But the disturbance in the weather is expected to continue on Wednesday. Monsoonal showers and thunderstorms are expected to creep back into the valley with wind gusts of up to 40 mph. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-90s.

Things should start to warm up later in the week. Weather service meteorologists believe the storm patterns will disperse by Thursday, and conditions will be dry through the weekend, with highs in the upper 90s and low 100s. Nighttime lows will stay mild, between 75 and 80 degrees.
