New year begins with warm temps in Las Vegas Valley

Updated January 2, 2018 - 10:44 pm

Temperatures will rise in the first week of the year in the Las Vegas Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday has a forecast high of 64 degrees, the weather service said. Light, calm winds will pick up Tuesday morning and should continue through Thursday afternoon.

Thursday and Friday will be warm with highs of 67 degrees. There should be more clouds than sun through most the week and into the weekend, meteorologist Ashley Wolf said.

Wolf said Saturday’s weather posed a “very small chance that we could squeak out a couple of drops of rain.” She said winds between 20 and 25 mph could accompany the small chance for a sprinkle.

Temperatures will start to drop again over the weekend, with a 66-degree high forecast for Saturday and 63 on Sunday, the weather service said.

Overnight lows will stay in the low to mid-40s.

The Las Vegas Valley’s dry streak continued into the new year and has reached 111 days.
