Las Vegas Valley will be sunny and warm through weekend

Updated December 19, 2018 - 10:30 pm

Sunny and warmer than normal conditions will stick around the Las Vegas Valley ahead of Christmas, the National Weather Service said.

Temperatures will exceed the average 56-degree high for this time of year, at times reaching 10 degrees above average.

Wednesday almost hit record-breaking temperatures, reaching a high of 67. The record high for the day was 68, set in 1942, the weather service said.

Thursday is expected to hit 64, with night-time lows around 47.

Friday will then reach 66 degrees, before temperatures dip a bit, falling to 65 and 61 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Overnight lows Friday through Sunday will be in the upper 40s, the weather service said.

Christmas Eve should reach the low 60s, before temperatures drop to the high 50s on Tuesday. No rain is forecast in the valley through the weekend, but the weather service is forecasting a slight chance for snow in the mountains on Christmas day, as a weather system moves into the area Tuesday night. The valley also will have a 10 percent chance for precipitation on Tuesday, the weather service said.
