Las Vegas Valley warming up for the weekend
January 16, 2016 - 8:42 am
After a few weeks of cold weather, the Las Vegas Valley can expect warming temperatures that should continue into the coming week.
The National Weather Service said the overnight low was 40 degrees. The high on Saturday is expected to reach 56 degrees, with an expected low of 40 degrees going into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures beginning to rise this weekend are expected to remain warmer and “slightly above average” for next week, with high temperatures forecasted to stay in the low 60s and lows expected in the 40s for much of next week, NWS meteorologist Chad Shafer said.
Rain is unlikelySaturday, though the valley “may see sprinkles today, but it’s a low chance,” Shafer said. Sunday and the coming week also are expected to be dry, and the chances for snow in the mountains are low. Light snow flurries are possible on Mount Charleston, but this is unlikely, he said.
The high cloud cover on Saturday is expected to persist throughout the weekend and into next week, Shafer said.
High wind are not expected this week. Wind speeds are forecasted to be “reasonably light,” Shafer said, resulting in a “tame week” of winds.
