Las Vegas Valley could see record-setting temps this week
This week’s above-average temperatures could break some record highs and the Las Vegas Valley will see a “pretty stagnant pattern,” a National Weather Service official said.
The high Tuesday is expected to reach 72 degrees with a low near 45. High temperatures in the low to mid-70s and lows in the mid-40s can be expected through the week, according to the weather service.
A record high temperature was broken in Death Valley on Monday. The national park, known as the hottest place on Earth, reached 89 degrees and broke the 1954 record high of 86, meteorologist Chad Shafer said.
At this time last year, the Las Vegas Valley saw a stretch of record-breaking weather. Although this year won’t be as severe, “Wednesday’s record high is in jeopardy,” Shafer said. The record was set in 2014 with a 74-degree high. Wednesday’s forecasted high is 74 and could be higher.
Winds will be light through Saturday but could pick up on Sunday, and skies will be clear to partly cloudy through the end of the week.
