High winds, maybe rain heading into Las Vegas Valley

Strong winds are expected to sweep through the Las Vegas Valley, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory for Monday.

The advisory begins at 1 p.m. on Monday with wind speeds up to 20 to 25 mph and gusts 30 to 35 mph, meteorologist Justin Pullin said. The day’s high should only reach 97 degrees with a 77-degree low.

Some areas saw rain overnight in the valley, notably in Spring Valley, he said.

A rain gauge in Clark County Wetlands Park recorded just .04 inches of rain.

There’s a fairly low chance of rain Monday, about 20 percent in areas more north and east of the valley, Pullin said.

Tuesday will be much the same, but with less wind and a high temperature of 90 and a low of 71. The wind advisory is set to expire at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

A drying trend starts Wednesday, Pullin said. Highs that day should reach 87 degrees and lows should dip into the upper 60s. Temperatures will gradually start to go up on Thursday and into the weekend with highs in the lower 90s and  lows in the low to mid-70s.
