Gusty winds, cooler temps heading to Las Vegas Valley

Updated March 13, 2018 - 8:51 pm

Strong gusts Wednesday should usher in a cooler, windier rest of the workweek in the Las Vegas Valley, the National Weather Service said.

The weather service has issued a wind advisory for 11 a.m. Wednesday. Winds between 25 and 35 mph are forecast through 11 p.m., and some parts of the valley could see gusts up to 50 mph.

“It’s mostly going to be a wind storm,” meteorologist Chelsea Kryston said.

Temperatures will fall through the end of the week, starting with a 69-degree high on Wednesday.

Thursday’s high is expected to be 63, with 15 to 20 mph winds, the weather service said. Friday’s high should stay near 64. Temperatures are forecast to be slightly lower over the weekend.

The valley probably won’t see much precipitation as the storm system passes over, but there’s a chance for rain and snow in the mountains this week, the weather service said.

There’s a slight chance for rainfall across the valley on Friday night and Saturday, the weather service said.
