Friday was warmest day of 2016, and it’s going to get warmer
January 15, 2016 - 10:00 pm
Friday marked year’s the warmest day so far, with a high of 60 degrees. But the valley is forecast to get even warmer in the next few days, the National Weather Service said.
Though temperatures dip Saturday with a forecast high of 55 and low of 38, a climb begins Sunday, when the high will reach 60 again.
Monday is expected to replace Friday as 2016’s warmest day, should the high hit an expected 63 degrees. And lows won’t drop below 40 next week, the weather service forecasts.
“Winds will be light,” meteorologist Chris Stachelski said.
Las Vegans shouldn’t get too excited about rain though. The valley will see clouds early Saturday thanks to a system in the north, but they’re just for show — Stachelski said they’ll thin out by the evening.
The next chance of showers in the valley is Tuesday or Wednesday, when the possibility of precipitation reaches 20 percent. On those same days, Mount Charleston will see a 40 percent chance of snow.
