Excessive heat warning coming this week in Las Vegas Valley

The hottest day so far this year could hit the Las Vegas Valley this week, the National Weather Service said.

Monday is expected to reach 109 degrees, followed by a 113-degree high on Tuesday. The temperature is expected to creep up to 114 on Wednesday, edging out the year’s hottest day, June 21, by one degree.

The high will dip back to 113 on Thursday and should drop to 110 on Friday. Lows throughout the forecast will be between 85 and 90 degrees.

An excessive heat warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 9 p.m. Thursday, the weather service said. During the heat warning period, cooling stations will be activated for those seeking heat relief, Clark County spokesman Erik Pappa announced Friday. The stations are located throughout the Las Vegas Valley and in Laughlin.

The valley’s high temperatures likely factored into the deaths of seven people last week, the Clark County coroner confirmed.

Skies this will be mostly clear this week, with a slight chance of showers, mostly in the Spring Mountains, the weather service said.
