Dry weekend forecast for Las Vegas

After a day of below-normal temps and empty threats of flooding Friday, the valley can expect to dry out and warm up over the weekend.

The largest amount of rain Las Vegas saw was about .05 inches between 5 and 6 a.m. Friday. High temperatures peaked at 96 degrees — about 7 degrees below normal for this time of year, National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Outler said.

A flash flood warning was in place for several hours Friday afternoon in areas south of Las Vegas, near Searchlight, but weather service gauges didn’t pick up enough rain to measure, Outler said.

The valley shouldn’t see another dose of moisture for at least the next three or four days, Outler said.

The expected high temperature Saturday is a welcome 99 degrees, still slightly below normal, Outler said. Afternoons will be breezy and low temps are forecast about 80 degrees.

Sunday could see the return of triple digits, with an expected high of 102. Nighttime temperatures should be about 81 degrees.

Temperatures Monday and Tuesday are expected to be back to normal, with highs about 102 and 103, respectively.
