Cooler temps and chance of rain coming to the valley

An incoming system will bring lower temps and a possibility of rain to Las Vegas this weekend.
Through Sunday, expect increasing clouds and wind, National Weather Service meteorologist John Salmen said Friday night.
Friday’s high was 56 degrees with a low of 35, but Saturday will be a bit warmer, he said. The forecast high is 60 and low is 38, adding it will be “a bit breezy” at night.
From then through Sunday morning, Salmen said there’s also a 30 percent chance of rain. That will bring a cooler Sunday, with a high of 55 despite a low of 43.
Looking into next week, Shafer says there’s still a slight chance of snow on Christmas, but only in the west valley.
“It looks like a pretty cold system,” he said of the expected Christmas weather. “Based on what I’m looking at we could easily get a few showers on the west side of the valley. Maybe some snow showers in Summerlin.”
Though the Christmas high is forecast as 53 degrees, Summerlin’s higher elevation makes it more susceptible to snow during the day, Shafer said, adding, “it would probably be more like flurries.”
