Cold front will make for chilly weekend in Las Vegas Valley

Updated February 8, 2018 - 8:56 pm

Mild winter weather is expected to persist in the Las Vegas Valley until this weekend, when a cold front will drive temperatures down, the National Weather Service said.

Friday and Saturday will be sunny with highs near 75 degrees, the weather service said. A cold front moving in Saturday evening should bring winds hovering between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts blowing in the upper 20s and upper 30s, the weather service said.

Isolated parts of the valley may see sustained winds of 30 mph and gusts reaching 40 mph.

“The wind is gonna be the kicker,” meteorologist Alex Boothe said.

Lows through Saturday are expected in the low 50s. The strong winds are expected to clear out by Sunday afternoon.

Highs for Sunday and Monday are expected to remain near 65 degrees. The low temperature for both days are expected to drop to the low to mid-40s.

Boothe said a 10 percent chance for rain was forecast for Saturday evening through Monday.
