Cloudy and cooler in Las Vegas Valley through weekend

Updated November 20, 2018 - 10:41 pm

Thanksgiving week in Las Vegas will bring cloudy skies, a slight chance of rain and a cold front, according to the National Weather Service.

The highs on Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day will hover near 67 and 65 degrees, respectively. As the cold front begins to move through the valley, highs will drop to 63 on Friday, 64 on Saturday and 60 on Sunday, the weather service said.

Overnight lows are expected to be in the mid- to high 40s through the weekend, the weather service said.

Expected cloud cover in the valley will last until Thanksgiving, which has a 20 percent chance for rain.

“We’ll see if we get anything at all,” meteorologist Clay Morgan said. “It could just be a lot of clouds.”

Meteorologist Alex Boothe said if the valley gets any rain it will most likely be between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday, after which chances drop to about 15 percent. Breezy winds with gusts up to 25 mph may be seen around the outskirts of the valley early Thanksgiving morning, he said.

That chance for showers will leave the valley by Friday when sunny skies are expected to make a return, Morgan said. As the storm system moves out, however, a cold front will creep in, bringing with it winds gusting up to 25 mph on Saturday.
