Chilly conditions come back this week for Las Vegas Valley
If getting out of your covers stung Sunday morning, prepare yourself because it’s only getting colder.
And don’t count on the sun being of much help the next couple of days, as clouds and storm systems are moving into the Las Vegas Valley, National Weather Service meteorologist Chad Shafer said.
The chance of rain and clouds should break up by Monday afternoon, Shafer said.
Temperatures at McCarran International Airport, the weather service’s official measuring site, dipped to 39 degrees Sunday morning, Shafer said. But that’s warm in comparison to what the valley should see this week, when lows are forecast to “flirt” with freezing temperatures at least through the first half of the week.
Monday’s low is expected to drop to 33 degrees, Shafer said, which is similar to Tuesday and Wednesday’s predictions, when temperatures might dip into the 30 to 32-degrees mark.
Highs the first half of the week are expected to only go into the low 50s, several degress below average.
Motorists traveling out of the valley should beware as there might be snow everywhere but here, with accumulation above 4,000 feet near Lincoln and Mohave counties, as well as the areas near Bishop, Calif., and Kingman, Ariz., Shafer said.
