Chance of rain this weekend in Las Vegas Valley

Updated January 3, 2019 - 9:33 pm

Cloudy weather and chances for rain in the Las Vegas Valley are in the forecast for the first weekend of 2019, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures Thursday were lower than the normal high of 57 degrees for this time of year, with afternoon temperatures reaching 51 during the day, and expected to drop to 37 overnight, the weather service said.

Friday will be slightly warmer, with temperatures topping out at 54 in the late afternoon before cooling to 40 degrees overnight. The high will be close to normal on Saturday at about 55 degrees, the weather service said.

Clouds will move into the valley Saturday afternoon, as a weather system from the Pacific Ocean approaches Saturday night.

The system will fully arrive in Southern Nevada on Sunday, bringing a 30 percent chance of rain, meteorologist Christ Outler said.

“By the time Monday rolls around, it’ll be just partly cloudy,” he said.

Low morning temperatures Sunday through Tuesday will be near the low 40s, while highs should reach 53 on Sunday, 55 on Monday and 59 on Tuesday. Except for the occasional breeze, the weather service forecasts calm conditions through Tuesday, Outler said.
